Kiwi international Nathan Cayless may be preparing for Friday’s all-Sydney blockbuster against the Bulldogs, but he has admitted that Parramatta also has one eye on the NRL’s greatest prize.

Speaking in the wake of a crushing victory over a brave Titans outfit, the hard running forward has pin-pointed his side’s momentum as a key factor that could take them all the way to grand final glory.

“We have got to keep [the momentum] going. Nobody remembers who came 2nd, 3rd or 4th, everyone remembers who won the comp and that’s all that matters,” Cayless revealed on Bigpond Sports Weekend.

The Eels notched up a 27-2 point victory on Friday night, but Cayless admitted the score did not accurately depict what was a highly physical and grinding affair.

“We were under pressure a lot through the game. The Titans really had us under the pump.

“The way we defended… we are really committing to each other. [We] just keep turning up, there’s not much more you can ask for from the boys.”

Highly scrutinised early in the season after showing Brett Finch the door, Cayless heaped praise on rookie coach Daniel Anderson and his ability to formulate a simple game plan based on teamwork.

“We weren’t playing as a team… to Daniel Anderson’s credit he has really turned the team and the club around.

“He is very disciplined. He is very honest and he lets you know what he expects from you.”

As one of the more experienced players at the club, Cayless revealed that Anderson wasn’t afraid of stepping on any toes in his rookie year as head coach – even if that ended in tears for star young-gun Krisnan Inu.

“No one is spared a serve. He gives some good ones…. I cop it all the time. He doesn’t care who you are.

“He [Inu] was just about to cry, he didn’t know what was going on.”

It is now obvious that there is a method to Anderson’s madness, as the famous blue and gold’s have won nine of their last ten.

If they are able make it eleven wins out from their last twelve, they would complete one of the most remarkable mid season comebacks is history.

CLICK HERE to watch the complete interview.
