Junior Rugby League players can activate their free pass to Telstra Premiership matches from today in a $28 million NRL program that is the only one in Australian professional sport to give future stars free access to its matches.

More than 175,000 Junior Passes will be distributed to children and designated club officials in registered Rugby League competitions this year – that’s an extra 9000 extra passes from 2009 as the game caters for record levels of junior registrations.

The NRL remains the only major football code to offer junior and school players free access to its Premiership games.

“The Junior Pass program is a significant investment in the game at grass-roots level,” NRL Chief Executive, Mr David Gallop, said.

“I would encourage everyone to activate their pass in time for Round 1 of the Telstra Premiership on March 12 and to enjoy the benefits that come with being a registered junior Rugby League player.”

Junior clubs will be distributing the passes to eligible players and officials over the coming weeks.

As well as providing free entry to Telstra Premiership matches, activating the pass makes junior players eligible for special NRL offers.

The directions for activating the Junior Pass are printed on the front of each card. Holders must register their details online at www.rugbyleague.com.au/passes or by calling 1800 009 711 to activate the pass.

To ensure security around the passes, those that are not activated will not gain entry to Telstra Premiership matches.

Please note, NRL clubs reserve the right to refuse free access for selected games where venue capacity constraints exist.

The NRL also accepts the National Companion Card for the VB Test, AAMI City-Country, Harvey Norman State of Origin Games 1 and 3, Telstra Premiership Finals and the Telstra Premiership Grand Final.

Holders of the National Companion Card should ask to speak to the supervisor when purchasing tickets to those matches to receive a free ticket for their carer.

Some NRL clubs also accept the National Companion Card for Telstra Premiership matches. Please contact individual clubs for details.
