NSW Blues major sponsor, Aussie has joined forces with the NRL and ARL to lend a hand and potentially deliver thousands of dollars in additional funds to junior rugby league clubs across NSW and the ACT.

Aussie Executive Chairman, Mr John Symond today joined NRL Chief Executive, Mr David Gallop to launch the ‘Lend a Hand’ program, which will see Aussie donate $100 for any adult member of the junior rugby league community who attends an appointment with an Aussie mortgage broker, to the junior club of the person’s choice.

The initiative will run from March 4 to September 30, 2010 and is open to anyone associated with a junior rugby league club in NSW and the ACT, or referred to the initiative by a junior club.

Appointments, including nominating a local junior club for the donation, can be made by visiting www.aussie.com.au/lendahand.

“The ‘Lend a Hand’ program is a real opportunity for junior clubs to boost their funds,” NRL Chief Executive, Mr David Gallop said in announcing the program.

“The initiative shows how our sport and sponsors can work together to support the grassroots and, importantly, the only requirement is the person completes an obligation-free appointment with an Aussie mortgage broker.

“Aussie’s long association with Rugby League began at the grassroots and I am sure our junior clubs will appreciate the potential this initiative has for generating additional funds”.

Aussie Executive Chairman, Mr John Symond said he was extremely proud to support Rugby League at its grassroots.

“Each week Aussie mortgage brokers see mums and dads who are involved in local junior rugby league clubs, through coaching, refereeing, running the BBQ or selling raffle tickets,” Mr Symond said.

“We aim to get all our customers a better deal on their finances and the ‘Lend a Hand’ program will show the junior rugby league community how we can help them do this and support their clubs at the same time.”

As an added bonus, Aussie will donate an additional $5,000 to the club with the most completed appointments by September 30, 2010.

Anyone who attends an appointment as part of the initiative will also go into the draw to win one of four seats in a corporate box at the 2010 Telstra Premiership Grand Final, plus fortnightly draws to win tickets to support the NSW Aussie Blues and signed merchandise.

“Junior clubs give kids a great chance to be active and play Rugby League, and we hope the rugby league community will see the benefits of this initiative to themselves and their clubs,” said Rugby League One Community and ‘Lend a Hand’ Ambassador, Mario Fenech of today’s announcement.
