Rabbitohs prop Ben Ross has seen his surgeon today and has received very positive news about his rehabilitation from a serious neck injury.

Ross will need one final check next Thursday to ensure his neck has fully recovered so he can receive his clearance and resume his playing career.

Ross' surgeon is very pleased with the progress of the bone fusion in his neck, indicating that Ross will get the all clear next week.

"We've had great news today about Ben's recovery from his neck injury," Rabbitohs CEO Shane Richardson said today.

"His surgeon wants one final consultation with him to ensure he has recovered completely.

"We're happy to wait one more week to get Ben's final clearance as his health is our number one priority and in no way, shape or form will we rush him back into playing.

"He is involved in all of our training now and I'm sure all of our Members are looking forward to seeing him in the red and green jersey, just as much as he is."

Ross says that after nearly 12 months of recovery, he can wait one more week for his final clearance.

"It was great to hear what my surgeon had to say today and I'm really excited about next week," Ross said.

"Our whole squad is working really hard and I want to play my part in the team as best I can.

"I'll be doing everything I can to earn a spot in the top 17 and I can't wait to get back out on the field and play Rugby League again."
