Forget Jarryd Hayne and his amazing six consecutive man-of-the-match awards, the turning point in Parramatta’s stuttering 2009 season was two inspirational ‘seniors’ - Nathan Hindmarsh and Nathan Cayless according to forward Tim Mannah.<br><br>As the Eels again find themselves underachieving at the start of another Telstra Premiership campaign, Mannah has revealed why the two Nathans are so important to the blue and gold army’s plight.<br><br>“Massive, massive... when you think of Hindy, you think inspirational,” Mannah said.<br><br>“He doesn’t do too much talking, but the stuff he does on the field you can help but be inspired by it.<br><br>“Last year we went through a bit of a tough trot during the start to the season and the two Nathans really were the turning point.<br><br>“I remember Cayless was copping it a fair bit this time last year as well and the two Nathans really got us out of the hole.<br><br>“The way they handled themselves on and off the field was definitely the turning point in our season.<br><br>“Having those two same boys in our team, I’m confident we can get out of this little hole we are in at the moment.”<br><br>After four rounds the Eels find themselves in 12th place and if it hadn’t been for a miraculous come-from-behind win against the Sea Eagles in Round two, the start to the season could have been a whole lot worse.<br><br>But after being in an almost identical position at the same time last year, Parramatta know better than most that it can all turn around very quickly.<br><br>“As terrible as things have been it is only round four and it’s not the end of the world,” Mannah said.<br><br>“It is still a long season and there is a lot in front of us.<br><br>“I personally think the senior players in this team are the best going around. <br><br>“They have the experience and composure to get us back on track that is for sure.<br><br>“We definitely know that we have been playing well below our best, we know what we are capable of and we expect a lot from ourselves.”<br><br>The Eels host the Raiders on Monday night at Parramatta Stadium and believe a midweek honesty session will be the catylst for a much improved performance.<br><br>“To dish up some of the things we have been doing in the last couple of weeks – a lot of the boys have put their hands up and we are working on things to make sure we move forward and don’t stay where we are,” Mannah said.<br><br>“Being a forward, I think we need to put our hands up and make sure we don’t let the backs down by getting run over every week. <br><br>“We have to take more of a tough stand in the forwards and give the backline a platform.<br><br>“The Raiders are a big and physical side, if you look at their team they have some giants and they are going to be physical.”
