On Thursday the NSW Blues lent a hand to the Lennox Head community after their idylic town on the NSW North Coast was recently devastated by storm damage.

The Blues took time out from their training camp, holding a public signing session at the Lennox Point Hotel where hundreds of fans got to meet their heroes.

The players, including Jarryd Hayne, Kurt Gidley and Timana Tahu, then joined members of the local community for dinner before appearing live on Channel Nine’s Footy Show.

For Raiders forward Tom Learoyd-Larhs who grew up in nearby Kingscliff, it was a humbling return to his local area.

“Driving here on the bus we weren’t sure what the turnout would be like,” he said.

“Then we got close to town and saw that people were lining the streets with their blue flags and jumpers.

“It was a good feeling.”

Several NSW players also donated a range of sporting memorabilia to be auction on NRL Auctions next week. Items include Hayne’s Origin boots and signed jerseys from the Sharks and Rabbitohs.
