Cowboys 26<br>The Moment: </b>The Cowboys were the victims of a cruel twist early in the second half that sucked the wind out of their comeback sails. Scott Bolton’s try and Ashley Graham’s sideline conversion seven minutes after the break saw them trail the Broncos 24-14. Hooker Aaron Payne then committed a monumental blooper, dropping the restart to turn over possession. The Cowboys weathered that error – but closing the next set fullback Matt Bowen drove his clearing kick too low. The ball slammed into the back of Broncos lock Corey Parker, ricocheted right and bounced over the sideline. Referee Ben Cummins ruled (probably correctly, despite the Cowboys’ howls of protest) that Parker had not played at it. Eels 12<br>The Moment: </b>Mat Rogers’ incredible no-room-for-error 40-20 in the 63rd minute turned this game on its head. The contest was very much still in the balance, with the Titans notching a hat-trick of tries early in the second half to edge ahead of the Eels 16-12. Late in the tackle count, with just eight metres to work with, Rogers aimed for the left corner post and unleashed a monster punt that landed centimetres inside the sideline. Mark Minichiello capitalised on the advantage, crossing in the ensuing set, and the Titans had all the momentum. <br><br><a href="http://www.nrl.com/gameAnalyser/tabId/10910/default.aspx?seasonID=240?seasonid=240&roundid=858&fixtureid=50020102202&videoquality=1&type=kick4020&period=2&time=1746" target="_blank">CLICK HERE to see this game turning 40/20 kick.</a><br><br><b>Sea Eagles 26 def. Storm 6<br>The Moment: </b>It’s not often Kangaroos fullback Billy Slater is left embarrassed when defending his line – the fact he ranks seventh in the NRL for try saves is testimony to his uncanny knack of spoiling attacking raids. But Sea Eagles winger Tony Williams used Slater as a speed bump on the way to scoring the home side’s second try after 15 minutes. The 114kg tearaway left Slater sprawling on the turf after crushing him in a massive “don’t argue” collision 10 metres out.<br><br><a href="http://www.nrl.com/gameAnalyser/tabId/10910/default.aspx?seasonID=240?seasonid=240&roundid=858&fixtureid=50020102203&videoquality=1&type=try&period=1&time=1068" target="_blank">CLICK HERE to see Williams steamroll Slater.</a><br><br><b>Rabbitohs 34 def. Wests Tigers 30<br>The Moment: </b>After 89 minutes and 50 seconds of play this game looked a “lock” for the season’s first drawn result. Souths’ fullback Rhys Wesser was handed the ball flat-footed 40 metres out, with a wall of gold jerseys waiting. Tackle him, Tiger, and the game’s over. But incredibly, Wesser was able to brush off a plethora of fatigued defenders before exploding into space. The No.1 fired a pass wide to the right to substitute back-rower Shaune Corrigan, who popped a wonderful offload inside to Dylan Farrell who grounded for his third try of the night as the fulltime siren blared. (But Wesser’s pass to Corrigan? Sharks 10<br>The Moment:</b> New coach Shane Flanagan was compelled to have a deep and meaningful with his players after their capitulation at home on Saturday night. And certainly, tries don’t come any easier than the one scored by James Maloney which broke the game’s 6-all deadlock after 31 minutes. Warriors hooker Aaron Heremaia was allowed to stroll out of dummy-half 30 metres out, with five Sharks defenders – including the usually ever-diligent Paul Gallen – hanging off him like he had a contagious disease. Heremaia then slipped the simplest of inside balls to Maloney, who crossed for a woefully soft try. <br><br><a href="http://www.nrl.com/gameAnalyser/tabId/10910/default.aspx?seasonID=240?seasonid=240&roundid=858&fixtureid=50020102205&videoquality=1&type=linebreak&period=1&time=1950" target="_blank">CLICK HERE to see this play now.</a><br><br><b>Knights 30 def. Bulldogs 6<br>The Moment: </b>Much has been made of Adam MacDougall’s “blow-up” after Knights team-mate Akuila Uate snuck under Mad Dog’s guard to score against the Sea Eagles last Monday night. Apparently NRL tryscoring leader Uate felt so bad about things he set about gifting his team-mate his 81st career try, which rocketed the home side to a 30-0 lead after 59 minutes. Flier Uate’s charity act – clearly he would have scored himself after a dummy and run to the line – leaves MacDougall just two ‘meat pies’ away from breaking Timana Tahu’s all-time record for the Novocastrians. <br><br><a href="http://www.nrl.com/gameAnalyser/tabId/10910/default.aspx?seasonID=240?seasonid=240&roundid=858&fixtureid=50020102206&videoquality=1&type=try&period=2&time=1298" target="_blank">CLICK HERE to see this play now.</a><br><br><b>Dragons 19 def. Roosters 12<br>The Moment: </b>It would be cruel to label Shaun Kenny-Dowall a villain for his 75th-minute “error” that cost the Roosters victory – especially given the blockbusting 55-metre solo run the powerful centre carved out to give the tri-colours at least a last chance at the win. It all came off the back of a Dragons bomb, defused with ease by Roosters fullback Anthony Minichiello five metres out from his line. Immediately the no.1 seized the advantage, lofting a long pass to the right edge to the unmarked Kenny-Dowall who tore down the flank, beating a host of tired Dragons cover defenders. Suddenly, the Kiwi only had Dragons fullback Darius Boyd to beat… with team-mate Jake Friend looming up unmarked on his inside. But [groan] Kenny-Dowall threw the pass behind Friend – with the ball scooped up by Mark Gasnier who tore back towards the Roosters’ goal line. Three tackles later Dean Young crashed over from dummy-half and the Dragons were home. <br><br><a href="http://www.nrl.com/gameAnalyser/tabId/10910/default.aspx?seasonID=240?seasonid=240&roundid=858&fixtureid=50020102207&videoquality=1&type=linebreak&period=2&time=2097" target="_blank">CLICK HERE to see this play now.</a> <br><br><b>Raiders 30 def. Panthers 26<br>The Moment:</b> There was plenty of drama in this encounter, with the home side fighting back from 26-12 at halftime – a score line boosted by a bonus conversion kick after Raiders winger Daniel Vidot was adjudged to have led with his boot in attempting to thwart Brad Tighe’s 33rd-minute try that saw the Panthers lead 24-12. But had they lost it’s probable the Raiders would still be seething over the penalty against Joel Monaghan with the winger in possession on his own 20-metre line with 22 minutes gone. The Raiders were leading 12-6 when late Panthers call-up Wade Graham did his best to slow down the play-the-ball. Monaghan was clearly annoyed, pushing Graham away with force before delivering a few choice words to the referee. But if he expected any sympathy, he got the opposite. From the ensuing penalty set Luke Lewis gifted Frank Pritchard an inside run to the try line and the game was all square at 12-all.
