NRL star Brett Stewart has been found not guilty of sexually assaulting a 17-year-old girl.

The Manly, NSW and Australian representative fullback broke down and cried as the jury returned its verdict following less than two hours of deliberation.

Stewart had pleaded not guilty of two counts indecent assault and a charge of sexual intercourse without consent.

Manly teammates Anthony Watmough and David Williams were at the court to support Stewart while Manly coach Des Hasler was among the wintesses who gave evidence of his good character.
