He is an unstoppable force in the Sharks' forward pack, but the scary thing for rivals is that Jayson Bukuya is only just realising his full potential.
The 22-year-old has made an immediate impact this season, making the most tackle breaks (26) in the NRL.
While captain Paul Gallen’s performances have been superhuman in the opening four rounds, Bukuya’s efforts have not gone unnoticed with teammates.
The Fijian international has quickly cemented his place in the starting side, coming back from an injury that cruelled his 2011 season, and his teammates believe he will only get better.
“He’s worked hard,” Sharks hooker Isaac De Gois told NRL.com.
“He’s got himself in the starting line-up for the Sharks and is playing absolutely outstanding at the start.
“He’ll keep working hard and if he sticks to it, I’m sure he’s got a really big future in the game.”
The Sharks will be boosted by the return of prop Bryce Gibbs for Saturday night’s clash with the Panthers at Centrebet Stadium and will be looking to spoil the party for Panthers captain Luke Lewis, who will celebrate his 200th NRL game.
