Despite falling behind mid-way through the second half, the North Queensland Toyota Cowboys NYC team fought back valiantly to force a 24-all draw against the St George -Illawarra Dragons at Dairy Farmers Stadium.
Forced passes and dropped ball proved costly for the Cowboys early on as they went up against the Dragons who sit three places ahead on the NYC ladder.
Trailing 6-14 at the break, the Cowboys fell behind 24-6 after two quick Dragons tries after half time.
Then, with better ball control and some astute kicking, the Cowboys were able to fight back, and after forcing the Dragons to defend their try line for several successive sets, a Zac Santo try in the 58th minute started the comeback.
Two unanswered Cowboys tries in the final 8 minutes forced the draw, to the delight of the home crowd.
North Queensland Toyota Cowboys NYC 24 (Sam Foster, Zac Santo, Jarvid Bowen, Nathan Norford tries, Kyle Feldt 4 goals) drew St George Illawarra Dragons 24 (Yaw Kiti Glymin, Blake Philips, Kayne Brennan, Sam Clune, Andrew Sultana tries, Daniel Burke 2 goals)
