Is he a Queenslander? Is he a New Zealander?

That is the question currently dividing the opinion of rugby league fans as the countdown to the Origin decider continues with speculation that Sam Kasiano could defect from New Zealand to Australia in order to play for Queensland.

With the Queensland team being selected after Round 16, all eyes are on Mal Meninga and who he selects for the Maroons.

On Thursday night, NRL Daily hosts John Gibbs and Brad ‘Freddy’ Fittler discuss the storm that’s brewing over Sam Kasiano’s state and national allegiance.

How should the State of Origin rules for legitimacy be altered and what needs to change to save Origin as we currently know it? “The rules for Origin legitimacy need to be looked at more prudently and the international arena needs to be built up,” Freddy says. “Test scheduling needs to be adjusted and international players need to be given financial incentives equal to that of Origin.”

Also on today’s show the Bulldogs’ Aiden Tolman phones in for a chat as he prepares to face his former Storm teammates on Sunday.
