The thrill of experiencing the intensity of finals football looked to have eluded Jaiman Lowe after four years of service to North Queensland and then five with a moderately performing South Sydney outfit but when he received a phone call from Melbourne Storm coach Craig Bellamy before the 2011 season, the opportunity was impossible to ignore.

True to form, the Storm cruised into the finals and Lowe figured in the club’s qualifying final victory over Newcastle before sharing in the shock preliminary final defeat to the Warriors.

Lowe’s career began on Queensland’s Darling Downs where he played his junior football with the Newtown Lions and represented Queensland at Under-17s and Under-19s levels before linking with the Cowboys in 2002.

He made his NRL debut early in the 2002 season and after 54 appearances with North Queensland he transferred to the Rabbitohs in 2006.

He reached a half-century of games for Souths before joining the Storm in 2011. One of a number of journeyman forwards at Melbourne, the 29-year-old made a late decision to retire at the end of the 2012 season.

Before he hangs up his boots Lowe intends to build on his finals experience and there is always the chance his career could end on the ultimate high.
