While the top six teams are locked in and safely through to the NRL finals, the position they will finish on the ladder is still to be decided and could have a huge baring on week one of the finals.

Tonight on NRL Daily, hosts John Gibbs and Joel Caine take us through the final round of the regular season, where even the battle for the minor premiership is still to be decided.

“A few years ago the JJ Giltinan Shield made a last-minute sprint to WIN Jubilee from Allianz Stadium,” says Caine. “While this year you might find it sitting in a café in Haberfield only five minutes between Homebush and Leichhardt where it will be doing a lap of honour on Saturday night."

Gibbs believes the Bulldogs have the trophy all wrapped up, but says, “it won’t surprise me if there is another twist in the tale”.

While the minor premiership will be decided on Saturday night, the final places in the top eight most likely won’t be known until Sunday.

“I think the Broncos are in and that it will all come down to the for-and-against between the Raiders and the Tigers,” says Caine.

“I think something special is going to happen in New Zealand and the Warriors will turn their ill form around and fire against the Raiders, while I think the Tigers will upset the Storm in a tight one.

“In the end though I think the Raiders will just edge out the Tigers on for-and-against.”

Let us know who you think will be in the top eight and who will win the minor premiership on Twitter @NRL_Daily.

Also on tonight’s show we speak with Storm assistant coach Kevin Walters about Melbourne’s lucky escape from the jaws of the Sharks and their plans heading into the finals.
