Rugby League Ambassadors will play ‘Secret Santa’ in a variety of locations in regional NSW and QLD centres next week giving away vouchers and paying bills for unsuspecting shoppers as part of an exciting NRL Christmas initiative.

Nathan Hindmarsh, Mario Fenech, Petero Civoniceva and Gorden Tallis will launch the campaign which will see them pop up at locations such as regional and suburban grocery stores, shopping centres, service stations, cafes and streets to offer vouchers or pay for bills, laybys, petrol, groceries and other items to members of the public in the lead-up to Christmas.

The following week, NRL Clubs will join the celebrations with players also playing ‘Secret Santa’, hosting Christmas parties and performing other ‘random acts of kindness’ across the country and in Auckland NZ as part of a One Community/ NRL Clubs joint initiative.

NRL General Manager of Community, Culture and Diversity, Ms Trish Crews said: “We’re really excited about bringing some Christmas cheer to a number of communities over the next couple of weeks.

“Christmas is such a fun time of the year and I know our Ambassadors and players will really enjoy the opportunity to say thank you to our fans and to bring a smile to their faces.”

Recently retired Hindmarsh, now working as a Community Engagement Officer for the NRL, will kick-off the campaign on Monday (Dec 3) at a regional NSW venue (to be confirmed on the day).

NRL Clubs who will conduct ‘Secret Santa’ missions between Monday, December 10, and Sunday, December 16, include the Broncos, Knights, Roosters, Warriors, Eels, Dragons and Cowboys. A number of NRL Clubs will also host Christmas parties for special fans and charities.
