Rugby League is today mourning the tragic loss of Jon Mannah, who passed away after an ongoing battle with Hodgkin’s Lymphoma.

The younger brother of Eels and NSW prop Tim Mannah, Jon was admired throughout the game for his courage, integrity and positive attitude.

A Guildford junior and a member of Parramatta’s inaugural Toyota Cup side in 2008, Jon made his NRL debut for Cronulla in 2009 but later that year was diagnosed with Hodgkin’s Lymphoma.

Such was his fighting spirit, Jon returned to the NRL in 2011 before again having to resume his cancer battle.

“Jon’s courage and determination has been a source of inspiration for everyone in Rugby League,” NRL Interim Chief Executive, Mr Shane Mattiske, said today.

“Our thoughts and prayers are with the Mannah family and with everyone who had the honour of being part of Jon’s involvement with the game.”

The NRL asks that the family’s wishes for privacy be respected at this time.
