The Australian Rugby League Commission has announced that Mr Percy Knight’s tenure as Chair of The ARL Indigenous Council ended today.

The Hon Linda Burney MP, Deputy Leader of the NSW Opposition, will represent the Council during the All Stars events and a new Chairperson will be appointed in the coming weeks.

ARLC Chairman, Mr John Grant, said the Indigenous Council was intended to provide the game with critical advice on policy formation and funding allocation. To do so it needed to be united in its view and at the same time representative of the broader Indigenous community.

“We need the Council to be able to work cohesively as a group and to represent Indigenous communities across the game,” Mr Grant said.

“It is clear from the Council members that to achieve this some change was required and the Commission is responding to the Council’s views in making this announcement.

“We thank Percy for the time he committed as Chair and as a member of the Council. “
