From grassroots to the NRL superstars, every level of Rugby League is represented in the new NRL commercial headlined by Australian music sensation Jessica Mauboy.

The Greatest Game of All can be played anywhere, anytime, by anyone and the new television campaign highlights this with Rugby League being played across fields and parks, in backyards, in the bush and at the beach.

The theme ‘Something’s got a hold on me’ performed by Jessica Mauboy sees the return of a female lead for the NRL brand – the first time since Tina Turner revolutionised sport marketing around the world with ‘Simply the Best’.

“Rugby League is a game that brings people together and our new commercial reflects how important the sport is to our community,” General Manager Marketing and Commercial, Mr Paul Kind said.

“We are so excited to have Jessica as our ambassador, it is a real coup to have Australia’s leading female artist as the voice of the game.

“Jessica is a huge Rugby League fan and we believe fans are really going to embrace this campaign.

“She is a perfect fit for the game.”

Mauboy, a multi-award winning Australian artist, is humbled and honoured to be the ambassador for Rugby League.

“It has always been in the family, dad was a big fan and we have carried that through growing up,” Mauboy told NRL.com.

“To follow in the same footsteps, such great legends Tina Turner and Jon Bon Jovi, it is incredible to be on the same track they are. Being a part of the campaign and a passionate game, to do my own rendition is a whole other level for me.

“It is so intense, it really fits with such a great sport, I’m very honoured to be a part of it.”

In a first for the code, the dynamic advertising campaign launched today will be updated each week to include the latest highlights from the 2013 season, ensuring the commercial captures all the excitement and action from the current season.

Fans will also have a chance to edit their own version of the commercial and share it with their friends – to find out more, click here.
