The Rabbitohs smashed the Panthers 38-12 at ANZ Stadium in Round 17 last season.

With second-rower Dave Taylor playing his 100th NRL game the home team led 14-12 at halftime before swamping Penrith with four unanswered tries in the second 40 minutes.
The ‘Coal Train’ left his stamp from the outset, scoring off a superb delayed pass from halfback Adam Reynolds in the 17th minute, then breaking through a swag of Panthers defenders on halfway to set up Nathan Merritt for their second four-pointer in the 22nd minute.

However the Panthers hit back with a double strike of their own; first Clint Newton crashed over on the right edge in the 30th minute, before Lachlan Coote showed brilliant skill to gather in a fumbled catch of a Travis Burns bomb to score adjacent to the posts in the 37th minute.

Only Adam Reynolds’ late penalty goal separated the sides at oranges.

It was all Souths after the break, with tries to Andrew Everingham (off a Taylor pass assist in the 57th minute), Nathan Peats (64th minute), Dylan Farrell (70th minute) before Nathan Merritt bagged his second (78th minute) to bring down the curtain on a comprehensive display.
