The Wests Tigers crashed to their fifth straight loss when the Broncos triumphed 18-14 at Allianz Stadium in Round 6 last season.

The game began promisingly for the home side, with Benji Marshall working his magic to create try-scoring opportunities for centre Blake Ayshford and fullback Tim Moltzen, but they weren't able to capitalise. Lote Tuqiri dropped the ball when he had a great opportunity as well, and as so often happens in games the Tigers paid the price for not taking their chances.

Left-side centre Jack Reed scored two tries for the Broncos, the second coming after a mix-up between Moltzen and winger Beau Ryan, and the Broncos were leading 10-0.

The Tigers cut the deficit to six points going into halftime, but they had lost forwards Chris Heighington and Matt Groat to injury and concussion respectively.

The Tigers kept fighting in the second half, but just weren't playing well enough to haul the Broncos in.

It was a Ben Te’o shoulder charge that had rendered Groat unable to continue. Te’o was subsequently hit with a dangerous contact charge and suspended for two games.
