The National Rugby League has today reinstated the registration of Canberra Raiders centre Blake Ferguson.
Since June 17 Ferguson’s registration has been suspended because of repeated behavioural issues involving the use of alcohol.
Since then, Blake has participated in an intensive four-week program of rehabilitation which has involved a number of remedial components including counselling on the use of alcohol and the identification of positive pathways for Blake away from football.
Over recent days the NRL-RLPA Welfare and Education team has reviewed Blake’s adherence to the program and agreed on an ongoing support plan with the Canberra Raiders which it will be necessary for Blake to comply with in order to maintain his registration.
“This has been a thorough and detailed process,” NRL Chief Operating Officer, Mr Jim Doyle, said today.
“It has involved the Integrity Unit, the Welfare and Education team and the Canberra club.
“Issues like these are not solved overnight but Blake and the club have committed to a number of steps going forward and we will continue to work with them.”
The NRL’s determination in this regard is unrelated to Blake’s court proceedings. They will be assessed at their conclusion.
