NRL Chief Executive, Mr Dave Smith, has today paid tribute to the achievements of Brisbane Broncos playmaker Scott Prince, who will join Rugby League’s elite ‘300 Club’ tonight.
A Premiership-winning captain and Clive Churchill Medal winner with Wests Tigers in 2005, Prince will become just the 18th player to play 300 NRL matches when he takes the field for the final time tonight against the Bulldogs at Suncorp Stadium.
The NRL will formally induct Prince into the ‘300 Club’ at the NRL Telstra Premiership Grand Final lunch on Thursday, October 3, as he celebrates a career that included four Tests for Australia, five Origins for Queensland, three games for the Prime Minister’s XIII and four matches for the Indigenous All Stars.
As part of the formal induction ceremony, Prince will be presented with a specially designed ‘300 Club’ gold ring.
The tributes will start tonight with a presentation of the game ball among the Broncos’ game-day activities to honour the occasion.
“Tonight is a really special occasion for Scott and his family and on behalf of all Rugby League fans I would like to congratulate him on a wonderful career,” NRL Chief Executive, Mr Dave Smith, said today.
“Scott has represented the game at the highest levels and throughout his career has been a fantastic ambassador for Rugby League.
“To play 300 NRL games puts Scott into an elite club and he certainly deserves his place alongside other greats of the game.”
The ‘300 Club’ features Peter Civoniceva, Nathan Hindmarsh, Darren Lockyer, Terry Lamb, Steve Menzies, Brad Fittler, Cliff Lyons, Andrew Ettingshausen, Geoff Gerard, Jason Croker, Hazem El Masri, Paul Langmack, Luke Priddis, Steve Price, Ruben Wiki, Brett Kimmorley and Luke Ricketson.
