Daly Cherry-Evans deserved to win the Clive Churchill Medal despite Manly's grand final loss, according to Michael Crocker.

Retiring South Sydney captain Michael Crocker believes Daly Cherry-Evans deserved the Clive Churchill Medal for his performance in Sunday's NRL Grand Final.

Crocker told SportsFan's Clubhouse that while James Maloney and Sonny Bill Williams had a major impact on the result, Cherry-Evans was more consistent for the full 80 minutes.

"I said 15 minutes before the game ended if the game was to end right now then Daly Cherry-Evans would win the Clive Churchill Medal," Crocker said.

"Maloney and Sonny Bill's first half wasn't really up to the standard of Cherry Evans.
