Brad Arthur has been named the new coach of the Parramatta Eels.

Brad Arthur has officially been announced as the new coach of the Parramatta Eels.

Arthur, a former assistant coach with the Eels, had been working as an assistant under Geoff Toovey with the Manly Sea Eagles in 2013.

The local Parramatta junior said the role was an honour.

"To return as a head coach in an area and a club where I played football as a young man is extremely humbling and very exciting," Arthur said.

"I have full confidence in the playing roster for next year, as well as the people at the Parramatta Eels to get this club moving in the right direction."

Arthur's appointment ends speculation Roosters assistant coach Jason Taylor was destined to return to the Eels' fold as head mentor from 2014.
