Will Brisbane re-establish their credentials as Queensland's top team in 2014?

Broncos v Bulldogs

Last season was a poor one by Brisbane's lofty standards and the Dogs showed them up 24-14 when the sides met in Round 11. The Broncos extracted a modicum of revenge in Round 26 but the season was gone by then.

This year, however, the Broncos have a new weapon in their arsenal – former Bulldogs Dally M fullback Ben Barba, and Broncos fans will be licking their lips at the prospect of seeing him unleashed against his old club.

Broncos v Eels

Corey Norman was one of Brisbane's best in 2013 and the Eels' efforts to poach him did not come at a good time for the Broncos, with Scott Prince and Peter Wallace also departing, leaving something of a gap in their playmaking roster.

Seeing Norman in the blue and gold will add some spice to what is already usually a riveting encounter – despite Parra's recent woes they've had the Broncos' measure on four of the past eight meetings and two of their last three trips to Suncorp. Broncos fans will be out for revenge should Norman and co make the trip up north in 2014.

Broncos v Cowboys

The little brothers of Queensland rugby league seem to have forgotten their place in the hierarchy of things, and Broncos fans will be eager to see balance restored when they take on a Cowboys side now packed with representative stars.

The Cowboys have finished above the Broncos two seasons in a row now, which won't please Brisbane fans one little bit. They'll be champing at the bit to get a crack at the upstart northerners and re-establish some dominance.

Check back on NRL.com on Wednesday for details of your team's schedule with the release of the 2014 NRL Draw.
