The National Rugby League has been clarifying information with the Cronulla-Sutherland Sharks Football Club, Mr Shane Flanagan and Mr Trent Elkin following receipt of their submissions on January 29, 2014.

This information is in respect of the preliminary findings made against them by the NRL’s Chief Executive Officer, Mr Dave Smith.

The NRL had requested all parties complete submissions by the end of this week.

The Cronulla-Sutherland Sharks Football Club has met this timeframe.

Following a request for further time by Mr Flanagan and Mr Elkin, their deadline has been extended until Friday, 28 February 2014.

The NRL is determined to resolve these matters as soon as possible while limiting the risk of legal action and further delay.

The NRL said it had provided today’s update on the process given the high level of interest in this matter.

The NRL will not make further comment at this time.
