The Rabbitohs have elected to challenge the grading of a charge against rookie hooker Apisai Koroisau in a bid to have him available to face the Storm on Friday night.
Koroisau was hit with a Grade 2 dangerous throw charge for his 23rd minute effort on Titan Greg Bird at Cbus Super Stadium on Saturday night.
Even though he has no prior charges or carry-over points the charge earns Koroisau 325 points, which would be downgraded to 243 points with an early plea, meaning he would miss the Round 10 game against the Storm and the Round 11 trip to Cronulla – a match in which Origin players Greg Inglis, Chris McQueen and Ben Te'o are likely to be missing, and potentially John Sutton and Adam Reynolds as well.
If he is unsuccessful with the downgrade he would also miss the following game, when the Rabbitohs host the Dragons in Round 12.
If the club is successful in disputing the grading, Koroisau would be able to plead guilty to a Grade 1 dangerous throw, earning him 93 points and making him available for this weekend's match against the Storm.
The news follows a decision from the Gold Coast Titans to challenge the Grade 3 dangerous throw charge handed to NSW back-rower Greg Bird, who is in danger of missing the entire Origin series.
