Game One of this year's Holden State of Origin Series marks the 100th clash between fierce rugby league rivals New South Wales and Queensland. To mark the occasion NRL.com is reliving 100 of the most iconic moments of the past 34 years of this compelling contest. 24. Game 3, 2012: At 36, Petero is the oldest man to play Origin.

For years one of the elder statesmen of the Queensland team, the immensely popular Petero Civoniceva in 2012 became the oldest ever Origin representative in 2012 when he started all three games at prop at the age of 36. He finished with 33 caps – just three behind Darren Lockyer's all-time Origin tally of 36.  His final match was a thrilling 21-20, series-clinching win for the Maroons in front of a rapturous home crowd at Suncorp Stadium. You could hardly think of a more fitting way to send out one of the true modern greats.
