45. Game One, 1984: A 40-metre field goal completes a masterly first 40 minutes by Wally Lewis.
Yet to hold the shield aloft after four years of State of Origin, NSW signalled a change in approach to the interstate series, excusing players from club duties the weekend prior to the game and entering an intensive training camp before Game One. It was to no avail however, as Wally Lewis turned on a first-half masterclass with a try and a field goal after the half time hooter to lead the Maroons to a resounding 29-12 win and another series win in the following game.
