NSW second-rower Anthony Watmough will contest the Grade 2 dangerous throw charge issued for his lifting tackle on Nate Myles in a bid to play in Origin III at Suncorp Stadium.
Watmough was placed on report for the 41st-minute incident that saw Myles land in a dangerous position, and faces a possible four weeks on the sidelines due to carry-over points if his challenge is unsuccessful at the NRL judiciary on Thursday night.
Speaking to reporters as he left the Blues' hotel on Thursday morning after their historic 6-4 triumph at ANZ Stadium, Watmough indicated he would fight the charge that is set to rule him out of the final interstate clash on July 9, as well as Manly's next three games against the Sharks, Roosters and Bulldogs.
“We’ll fight it and see what happens,” Watmough said, having declared there was no intent in the tackle after the match.
"[Myles] got straight up - there was no intent there."
"I got him in a little bit of a dangerous spot but hopefully it is not too bad.
"You don't go in there in a tackle to try and put someone on their head. He stood up and his body weight went forward. It was just an unfortunate tackle at the time."
Watmough will front the judiciary at Rugby League Central at 6 pm Thursday night.
