A repentant Titans forward Paul Carter says he had learned a valuable lesson and is now looking forward to resuming his NRL career with the Titans after being fined $1400 and having his driver’s licence disqualified for 12 months in Southport Magistrates Court for a drink driving offence.
The penalties follow those handed down by the club last month, which were a $12,000 fine of which $6000 was suspended for 12 months (paid to charity), a two-match suspension from playing (which impacted a $6000 loss of match payments), completion of an alcohol management course and completion of a traffic offender’s course.
"I just want to put this behind me now and concentrate on playing against the Rabbitohs next Monday night," Carter said.
"I am very sorry for my actions and I have certainly learned a big lesson.
"I totally accept the penalties the court and the Titans have handed down."
The 22-year-old resumes his position in the Titans team at lock for Monday night’s crucial match after returning from his suspension last Saturday when he played for Burleigh Bears in the Intrust Super Cup.
