Cowboys forward Tariq Sims will join the Newcastle Knights at the end of the season on a two-year deal.

The Newcastle Knights are pleased to announce the signing of forward Tariq Sims on a two-year contract.

Sims has played more than 60 games for the North Queensland Cowboys, represented Country against City, played for Fiji and selected as an Emerging Blue.

"We are obviously really pleased to sign Tariq, a powerful and competitive forward," Knights CEO Matt Gidley said.

"He comes to the club with plenty of football ahead of him but also with a lot of experience.

"Tariq will bolster our forward pack while also playing a significant role in the development of our young forwards coming through the system."

The Cowboys granted Sims a release from the final year of his contract to join the Knights in 2015, reuniting the 24-year old with younger brother Korbin.
