Manly players say after copping a hiding at Leichhardt and an underwhelming performance against the Bulldogs last week they will need to make sure they go into Friday night's match against the Tigers at Brookvale Oval with the right attitude.
Manly fullback Brett Stewart said that 34-18 loss at Leichhardt in Round 5 would probably be on the players' minds to some extent.
"They really embarrassed us at Leichhardt so hopefully the tides will change on Friday in front of a packed house hopefully at Brooky," Stewart said.
Stewart said there was no chance of taking the 10th-placed Tigers lightly.
"We go into every game expecting them to be full strength and play at their best. A couple of months ago at Leichhardt they were too good for us. They out-enthused us in every single play," he said.
He said the Tigers' expansive style of play made them a difficult proposition.
"They play what's in front of them and most times that's probably the hardest to defend," he said.
"We've got to bounce back positively [from last week]. We probably had three or four opportunities to win the game against the Dogs and we didn't find that final pass or crucial try that we needed so I think we can learn from that."
Centre Steve Matai said the side seemed to bring the wrong attitude out onto the field against the Bulldogs in Round 17.
"I think if we turn up like that against the Tigers we're going to lose again but if we turn up with the right attitude I think we'll be ok."
He said the side wouldn't need any extra motivation after their last-start loss.
"We were travelling quite nicely there for a while but obviously we lost last week and we want to get back on track," he said.
"[Attitude] is a collective thing, everything was a bit off by maybe five per cent and you can't afford to do that in this competition, against any team you're going to get hurt. I think we'll be ok there on Friday."
Manly captain Jamie Lyon said he was hopeful the side could bounce back after the Leichhardt loss.
"[The Tigers] really gave us a bit of a lesson in that first game in the rain at Leichhardt and it definitely wasn't a good performance by us but full credit to them, they really came out and played well.
"We haven't really looked too much at that game, just from our the last few weeks we've been looking at, we're not thinking too much about them. We just want to get our own game in order and play better. We're still up around the top of the ladder there, it's not panic stations, we just need a better performance than last week."
