It's funny what can happen when a player is enjoying his footy.
Smiling and relaxed after his side's 48-6 win over Cronulla on Saturday, it does not take long to realise why Will Chambers has found his groove.
The Storm centre has hit a purple patch of form in the business end of the year.
In the last four weeks Chambers has averaged 172 metres and recorded a total of six line breaks.
Saturday's win also marked the third straight week the 26-year-old had found his way onto the try-scorers list.
In uncharacteristic year of ups and downs for Melbourne, Chambers is pleased to be a key contributor on the Storm's dangerous right edge when his side has needed it most.
"It is a great time of year, coming into finals, and I've obviously found some confidence and enjoying it," Chambers told NRL.com
"Working well with Bill [Billy Slater] and Coops [Cooper Cronk] and Kevin Proctor and Sisa [Waqa] and it's coming good and the combinations are starting to pay off."
And pay off it has.
Chambers and Sisa Waqa have built quite the partnership on the Storm right-edge in recent weeks.
In the past four games they have averaged a combined 283 metres a game, with nine of Melbourne's tries coming from the pair over that stretch.
This season has also seen Chambers finally earn a Maroon jersey in Origin III after so many close call-ups.
"I just tried to do the same things each week and that is the thing that I worked on, trying to be consistent heading into Origin, and hopefully I got an opportunity which I did," said Chambers.
"It was exciting. I'm just enjoying my footy."
Consecutive roads games against in-form opposition in the Panthers and the Roosters now await the Storm as they look to push for what only weeks ago seemed an unlikely top-four finish.
But having finally found their mojo defensively the mood around AAMI Park is a buoyant one heading into the season's climax.
The 'Big Three' of Slater, Cronk and Cameron Smith will again be key to Melbourne's success but if Chambers can continue his hot run of form and finish off a groundbreaking season in style, he may provide that X-factor his side needs in order to make their 2014 campaign a memorable one.
