Jamie Soward has emerged as a bolter for the 2014 Provan-Summons Medal.

Panthers playmaker Jamie Soward and Broncos livewire Ben Hunt have emerged as the bolters for the Provan-Summons Medal with NRL.com able to reveal the duo are high up in voting for the prestigious award.

The “fans’ choice” award, presented to the best NRL player at the Dally M awards as voted by NRL.com fans, has gone to some of the biggest names in the game over the years including Brad Fittler, Andrew Johns, Darren Lockyer and Greg Inglis.

Now Broncos halfback Hunt and Panthers half Soward are well in the running to be added to the esteemed list.

Soward has been a revelation for the Panthers this season, constantly proving the doubters wrong, while Hunt’s breakout season as Brisbane’s halfback has also been acknowledged by NRL fans.

Other players high on the list of voting are Jarryd Hayne, Johnathan Thurston, Greg Inglis and Daly Cherry-Evans.

Voting for the award is extremely close with thousands of fans logging onto NRL.com to have their say.

You can make your vote count here: www.NRL.com/ProvanSummons

How Voting Works:

•          Phase 1: Fans pick their top 10 players of the year (order not important). Closes 11:59pm September 7.

•          Phase 2: The most popular 10 players as voted by the fans in Phase 1 will be shortlisted for a final vote to determine the recipient of the Provan-Summons Award. From the top 10 shortlist, fans will vote for their top three players in Dally M style: 3 points to their favourite, 2 points to the next best, 1 point for the third best. Phase 2 voting will be open from September 9 to September 14.

The winner of the Provan-Summons Medal will be announced during Grand Final Week at the Dally M awards night on Monday, September 29.
