Jake Friend made a huge impact in his return from injury in the Roosters' semi-final victory.
Roosters hooker Jake Friend will undergo surgery over the off season after it was discovered he had suffered a cartilage tear in his right shoulder in the club's final match of 2014 against the Rabbitohs.

The 24-year-old Roosters vice-captain faces a full shoulder reconstruction after scans revealed the tear, the club stated.

"Following consultation with Roosters medical staff, Friend has opted to go under the knife in order to be fully prepared and fit for the 2015 NRL season," the club said.

The Roosters expected Friend to return to full training, alongside the rest of the squad, in February 2015.
