Josh McGuire's belief at a bright future in Brisbane has seen him sign a two-year contract extension that will keep him at the Broncos through until at least the end of the 2017 season.
McGuire first joined the Broncos on a scholarship as a 14-year-old and made his NRL debut as a 20-year-old in 2009, since racking up 113 top grade games and playing four Tests for Samoa.
When Anthony Griffin was sacked as Broncos coach in July reports surfaced that two western Sydney clubs and the Sharks were interested in luring the tough-as-teak front-rower south of the border but the 24-year-old said his long history with the club and his belief in its future convinced him to stay.
"I'm very excited, got my future sewn up for the next couple of years and very special to be staying here at the club that I love and excited about the future," McGuire told Broncos TV, who broadcast his re-signing live on Friday afternoon.
"I grew up here and I love the club. I've been here since I was 14 years old so I didn't know anything different than to be a Bronco.
"All my family and friends are here so I didn't want to go anywhere else. I love the club and I'm very excited about what this team can do in the next couple of years."
It was a life-changing year for McGuire in 2014 who became a father for the first time, came within a whisker of earning an Origin call-up for Queensland, went away to Papua New Guinea with the Prime Minister's XIII and then represented Samoa in the Four Nations.
It's a far cry from the roller hockey player first discovered a decade ago but McGuire insists there is still more that he wants to achieve.
"It was a very exciting year last year but hopefully better things to come now," he said. "It's good to get this done and concentrate on the season. I feel like this is home and I don't want to be anywhere else.
"You don't start off thinking that you're going to be a professional, it's always a dream but it was a dream come true to get that first scholarship when I was 14 and lucky enough that the staff here have kept me around.
"I'm very excited and honoured to be a part of this club and to get to hang around the boys for a couple more years makes it even more special."
