Did we see a preview of the 2015 grand final last Sunday?
Maybe… but I think Penrith may have a bit to say about that.
Sunday's Rabbitohs v Roosters game was a classic, and the prospect of the two teams playing like that in front of over 80,000 fans come the first weekend in October is an enticing proposition.
But I am very keen on how the Panthers are developing. Souths and the Roosters look as good as last year. In my opinion though, the Panthers appear better than the team that came within a week of the 2014 decider.
I don't believe the Titans will be the only side this season to be dismantled by the red hot Panthers as they were in Bathurst.
How good is the current batch of fullbacks in the NRL?
Supreme. Outstanding. Great to watch.
Just put together a highlights package from last weekend of the fullbacks across the league doing their stuff, and there is your NRL ad to sell the game in 2016.
Greg Inglis was amazing against the Roosters. Matt Moylan… superb. James Tedesco… a young star. Brett Stewart... the proven performer. Roger Tuivasa-Sheck… exciting. And I haven't even mentioned Billy Slater!
And how good was Sam Tomkins for the Warriors? And Brett Morris for the Bulldogs? And this list goes on…
Are we using the sin bin enough?
Definitely not, and it's like Russian roulette when we do.
I am sick to death of hearing the line "the sin bin cannot be used for foul play," yet it can be used if a player throws a punch.
I believe if the referees had at their discretion the use of a five and 10, or even a four- and eight minute-period in the bin, they would be more likely to use it. And if players knew they could be off the field for a period of time they would be more likely to refrain from pushing the boundaries. It has by and large worked with fighting, hasn't it?
That being the case, Melbourne's Felise Kaufusi at the very least had to serve time off the field during the match in Round 1 for his tackle on Benji Marshall. It would have been the same story with Mitchell Moses for the Tigers against the Titans.
However, whatever the guidelines, we still have the inconsistency of dealing with professional fouls.
In Round 1 Newcastle's David Faalogo went to the bin for 10 for a blatant professional foul, slowing down a rampant Warriors attack.
Last Sunday, Canberra's Jarrad Kennedy stayed on the field after deliberately conceding a penalty with his team on the rack after a 70-metre run by Warriors fullback Sam Tomkins.
Come on fellas… consistency please!
Are the Titans right in selecting players who are facing drugs charges?
This is a tough one with no 100 per cent correct or incorrect answer, in my opinion.
The players have missed the opening two matches of the season. 'So what has changed?' observers are quite rightly asking. Some cynics question if the players would be back if the Titans were two from two.
I have said all along during this saga that I am glad I am not a Gold Coast official.
It is pillar of our society that you are entitled to your day in court and the presumption of innocence until such time as proven otherwise.
Behind closed doors I don't know what has been disclosed between players and club management. I really am torn as to how this should be dealt with.
I think, however, at the appropriate time, discussions need to be held with the aim of moving such situations out of the clubs' hands and to the jurisdiction of the NRL.
I can't help but wonder what a club would do in grand final week if one of its players was picked up on a drugs-related charge by police.
What happened to Dane Tilse's 200th game?
Does anyone know? Help me out here.
With no news of injury, I can't work out why Dane Tilse was initially selected for last Sunday night's match against the Warriors, and then replaced on matchday by Shannon Boyd.
It would have been Dane's 200th game - a significant milestone for a 10-year player at the club. You would also think his teammates would want that to be a special occasion and use it as a little extra motivation.
In the NRL, no team does milestone matches better than Melbourne. Craig Bellamy strongly believes they are important for the culture of the club. They should be celebrated. It is also rare that the Storm don't play their best on those days or nights.
As is stands, Tilse has now been picked again for Saturday night's game against the Dragons and I wish him well… but unless there is something the club hasn't told us, an opportunity to build on the 'culture' at the Raiders was missed last weekend.
Who has been the best Super League signing from the NRL this year?
Terry Campese.
Campo has quickly become a favourite with fans at Hull Kingston Rovers. They love the bloke, and the reports coming out of the UK are that he is really enjoying his football again after a few torrid seasons in Australia punctuated by injury and indifferent form.
Last weekend, Campese orchestrated one heck of a comeback against Catalans. Trailing 20-4 at one stage and 20-10 at half-time, Hull KR racked up a 40-0 scoreline in the second half to win 50-20.
Former Eels winger Ken Sio scored a hat-trick in the win.
By the way, if you're not aware, Fox Sports is screening the Super League games this season. I love waking up Friday morning and starting my rugby league weekend early with a live game.
