Cronulla Sharks Coach Shane Flanagan launched the club’s 'Back In Black' alternate playing strip at Sydney’s Central station this morning, just moments before the Oporto Mermaids and player Junior Roqica treated unsuspecting commuters to a “flash mob”.

The Sharks will don the alternate kit – a throwback to the 1995 Reebok strip - for Friday night’s clash at Remondis Stadium against the Knights.

Flanagan also encouraged fans – from the Sharks and Knights –  to make the most of the club’s integrated ticketing arrangement with Sydney Trains which includes the cost of train travel in all tickets to Cronulla home games at Remondis Stadium.

“It’s been a tough start … we’ve had a few out of town teams but hopefully our fans will be out in force this week and Newcastle will bring some supporters with them, especially with the Sydney trains offer,” Flanagan said.

“We worked really hard through the first four rounds but didn’t get the results we wanted; the challenge now is to back up last week’s win.

“Benny (Barba) is in our 17 but I haven’t made up my mind what way we will go there … you’ll just have to come to Shark Park on Friday to find out. Benny has a great future with the club.”

Sydney Trains Director of Operations Tony Eid said he was very excited about the initiative with the Sharks and encouraged all Rugby League fans to get on board.

“It takes all the worry out of travelling to the game – whether you are a Sharks fan, or in this case, a Newcastle fan,” Eid said.

The 'Back In Black' alternate playing kit is available for purchase from the Sharks Store.
