Due to the high levels of interest in the program the NRL has decided to extend the application period for those wishing put themselves forward for The NRL Rookie. Applications will now close at midnight on Sunday 24th May.
The NRL Rookie is an exciting new reality TV series that will give one lucky amateur player the chance to turn pro with an NRL club. The program will be broadcast in Australia across the Nine Network in 2016, as well as internationally on television networks that will be announced later in the year.
To date players have applied to take part in the NRL Rookie from Bosnia, Canada, New Zealand, Papua New Guinea, Russia, Fiji, Samoa, Tonga, Cook Islands, Phillipines, Turkey, Jamaica, Lebanon, Syria, the United Kingdom, United Arab Emirates and the United States - as well as Australia.
The quality of the applications has been exceptional. The application deadline has been extended to ensure that no stone is left unturned in the search for the next NRL superstar.
