Newcastle will be looking for another big game from punishing lock Jeremy Smith to help keep their premiership dream alive in Melbourne.

Jeremy Smith is set to finish his career at the Newcastle Knights after signing a one-year contract extension with the club. 

The veteran lock joined has played 47 games for the Knights since joining the club in 2013.

"The club is everything to me, it is a family club and I have really enjoyed my time here," Smith said.

"I am relieved that this is all done and dusted because I can get on with the rest of this season knowing I have next year here and I am really looking forward to it."
