It took one of the best defensive displays in club history for Brisbane to snap its eight game losing streak against the Melbourne Storm.
A ridiculous 11 goal-line drop-outs and 453 tackles was required from the visitors to leave the southern state as winners for just the second time since 2003.
Andrew McCullough put in an herculean 68 tackles while Matt Gillett, just five days removed from Origin II, had 56 of his own including several try saving efforts.
Gillett managed to muster up what little energy he had left to speak with NRL.com after the game and reveal how it felt to successfully weather the relentless purple attack.
"We just tried to stay pretty calm and stick to our process because we know what works," Gillett said.
"Just sticking to that and knowing that everyone is going to do their job makes it a lot easier for us as individuals. We did that one tonight and no doubt we won that off the back of our defence."
The 26-year-old was often the last man standing on a Broncos' line that rarely wavered, as it allowed just two tries despite surrendering 60% possession.
It was a backs-to-the-wall performance befitting a top of the table side, a status Brisbane managed to recapture from the Cowboys following the 14-12 win at AAMI Park.
After making 89 tackles inside five days of footy it is safe to say Gillett will have little trouble finding sleep.
But for all the bumps, bruises and shear exhaustion, the fact the Broncos took the two Premiership points and remain top of the league will certainly be welcomed by Gillett.
"I'm feeling alright at the moment, still pretty stoked with the way we won tonight," he said.
"Just to get the win down here against Melbourne was pretty good, it has been a few years since we won down here so it was good to get the win tonight and move on next week against Newcastle."
Brisbane will host the Knights at 7.35pm on Friday night at Suncorp Stadium.
