Heritage Round: Wests Tigers

Wests Tigers formed in 2000 as a joint venture between two foundation clubs – the Balmain Tigers and Western Suburbs Magpies.

The first ever Wests Tigers team ran out at Campbelltown Stadium in Round 1 that year, up against the Brisbane Broncos, and the game finished as a 24-all draw.

In 2005, the club claimed its first and only premiership to date, a proud moment for its players and fans.

In the club's 16-year history, six players from the merged club have played Test football for Australia and five Wests Tigers players have represented NSW in State of Origin football, whilst one has worn the Maroon of Queensland.

This heritage round, Wests Tigers again meet the Brisbane Broncos in a clash that is sure to ignite memories, and plenty of passion.

Wests Tigers is a club bound by History... History Bound.
