Titans coach Neil Henry says the club hasn't been in discussions to sign Knights halfback Tyrone Roberts for next season, in the aftermath of Gold Coast's 30-2 loss to Newcastle.

With rumour rife the Titans were looking to sign Roberts after missing out on Knights-bound, Bulldogs halfback Trent Hodkinson following Daly Cherry-Evans's controversial decision to backflip on the club to re-sign with the Sea Eagles, Henry said the Titans had not been in discussions with anyone in regards to the transfer.

"We haven't even spoken to his manager about it. It's just speculation at the moment. I can't rule it out or rule it in really, we haven't spoken so it's not on our radar at the moment," Henry said post-game.

"He is contracted until the end of next year and we haven't even had a firm approach that the Knights are willing to release him and on what terms so at the moment nothing's happening."

While their off-field matters are no closer to a resolution, on the field it couldn't get any worse following their 28-point loss to the Knights.

Conceding 68 points in their past two games and only scoring eight points themselves, against teams who have been struggling – Henry didn't hold back with his evaluation of the loss following a performance which saw them miss 33 tackles, make 16 errors and complete at 54 per cent.

"It was a very poor performance. It hasn't been good enough and we have to dig ourselves out of a bit of a hole if we're to be competitive over the next few weeks," Henry said.

"Our focus was certainly off. When you take into account the number of kicks we dropped, people getting back to help out on kicks and unforced errors it's just not good enough.

"It's just two weeks in a row now where we haven't been in the game. Overall, even with the breeze at our back we didn't have enough possession or end our sets well enough to mount any serious pressure in the second half at all."

After completing an eight-game suspension and returning against the Knights, lock Greg Bird was just as disgusted as his coach.

"It was very disappointing. I thought we were in the match there at the start, we were playing some good football," he said. "But we didn't play to the conditions as well as they did and we simply came up with too much drop ball."
