Confident Rabbitohs halfback Adam Reynolds believes South Sydney can overcome captain Greg Inglis' minor knee injury for their all-important clash with the Broncos this Thursday night.
Inglis limped off the field during the Rabbitohs' 14-point loss to the Bulldogs last Friday and a surgeon then discovered the custodian had a small fragment of loose cartilage in and around the knee joint.
With the fragment now removed, Inglis has to rehabilitate in the lead up to the Telstra Premiership Finals Series – not that his teammates can do anything about it.
"I thought Dylan Walker went back there and did an excellent job [when Inglis went off] so we'll muck around with a few combinations at training," Reynolds said.
"GI's definitely a bigger body and our options there are good on their feet and they are very fast, but there's not too much difference there, they'll just fall into the structures we have.
"It doesn't change too much. We have a certain structure here which we stick to and we'll come up with a game plan. We'll assess every situation we have."
While Walker did an admirable job, winger Alex Johnston is another option for coach Michael Maguire to utilise with the 20-year-old filling in for Inglis over the State of Origin period.
"I have to prepare to play wherever Madge wants to put me I guess," Johnston said.
"I always expect it to be tough back there. It's a role I haven't played in the top grade much so I think it's a matter of the more opportunity I get, the better I'll get."
Meanwhile Reynolds has complimented opposite halfback Ben Hunt on his form this season.
One of plenty of shining Bronco lights in 2015, Hunt's prowess hasn't been lost on Reynolds despite him coming out as a big 36-6 victor the last time the two teams played in Round 1.
"That game feels like it happened two years ago. They have come a long way since then and we're aware of their threats and what they can do," Reynolds said.
"But it's all about us mainly, just making sure we're turning up and we're ready to play.
"Ben's a great competitor though. He's shown that over the past few seasons. He's definitely crafty and he seems to have the Broncos firing.
"They have been one of the most consistent teams all year and that's no fluke from him and [five-eighth Anthony] Milford so they'll be ready to fire this week and we'll have to be ready to take them.
"He's played for Australia and he's been in his peak for a long time. He's a quality player who can win a game so he's definitely up there."
