An unprecedented five games were played on ANZAC Day in Round 8, with the traditional Roosters clash with the Dragons throwing up game-halting conditions. With hail and lightning engulfing the ground within the first quarter of proceedings, the game was put on hold for half hour before the Dragons racked up their sixth win in a row – the Roosters falling to their fourth consecutive loss. On losing streaks - reigning premiers South Sydney fell to their third straight loss in Cairns when playing the Raiders, while Newcastle went four and four for the year against the Cowboys after going undefeated in the first month of the season. A Kevin Naiqama flick back over the dead ball for James Tedesco headlined the Tigers' upset 38-14 win over the Bulldogs.
