John Lee appointed Roosters CEO
Sydney Roosters Chairman, Mr Nick Politis AM, is pleased to announce the appointment of Mr John Lee as the Chief Executive Officer of the Sydney Roosters Rugby League Football Club.
Mr Lee joins the Roosters from the South Sydney Rabbitohs where he held the position of Chief Executive.
“After an extensive process, we are delighted to appoint someone of John’s business, management and leadership experience to the role of Sydney Roosters Chief Executive Officer,” said Mr Politis AM.
“Following the recent departure of our former Chief Operating Officer Football, Brian Canavan, after a total of 18 years loyal service to our Club, we took the opportunity to reassess the structure of our organisation, and there is no doubt that John is the best candidate to lead our Club and take our business forward,” added Mr Politis AM.
South Sydney statement:
South Sydney Football Club announced today that John Lee had tendered his resignation as the CEO of the club, effective as of today.
Mr Lee assumed the role of CEO last year and enjoyed the Club's early season success with wins in the Auckland Nines and World Club Challenge, and the retention of the Charity Shield. Mr Lee worked closely with the coaching and commercial staff throughout the year.
Rabbitohs Chairman Nicholas Pappas said he was disappointed that Mr Lee had made the decision to leave the club.
“John has many positive attributes and established excellent relations with our key stakeholders,” Mr Pappas said.
“John enjoyed a good relationship with our board, our investors and our members.
“We wish him all the best for his next challenge.”
