Wests Tigers hooker Robbie Farah is set to miss up to the opening five rounds of the NRL Telstra Premiership season.

The Tigers revealed Farah will return between Round 4 and 6 with a knee injury suffered in last weekend's trial match against Cronulla.

He joins fellow hooker Matt Ballin on the sidelines, with new signing Ballin not set to return from his own knee injury until Round 10.

Also in the casualty ward are utility Dene Halatau (knee, Round 2), lock Joel Edwards (hamstring, Round 1-2), and outside back Justin Hunt (back, indefinite).
