League Tag in central Nuku’alofa is set to grow with teams from both the Kolomu’a Village and the Teufaiva League Tag Associations playing in the inaugural Town Challenge.
League Tag in Tonga started as a community program for the youth of Tonga with boys and girls coming together every Saturday morning to mix and exercise while playing League Tag. This association has been run for the last couple of years by husband and wife team Tavake and Rose Fangupo with the assistance of a small band of volunteers.
NRL in Tonga are pleased to be in partnership with League Tag Tonga and with the addition of resources including assistance with coaching, League Tag Tonga will only go from strength to strength. Plans are already being discussed to offer Rugby League as an option in the coming weeks for both boys and girls with the 2019 Pacific Games in mind.
