There are plenty of big boppers in the NRL capable of lifting heavy things but we wanted to know who is punching above their weight in the gym so we asked the game's stars this: Pound for pound, who is the strongest player at your club?

Isaah Yeo (Panthers)
Pound for pound is probably Will Smith. You wouldn't pick it – he's pretty light but he lifts up there with Josh Mansour, they're partners together. Mansour's obviously another one but I'd probably go Will Smith pound for pound. I think he's out-lifting me on most things and I'm a back-rower!

James Tamou (Cowboys)
Ray Thompson. For the size of him, he pushes the weights around and out on the field he gives it his all, so I think that tag is well deserved.

David Mead (Titans)
Dave Hala's strong but he's a big guy as well so you're not surprised when he lifts it. I'd probably say Karl Lawton. He's 90-odd kilos and can bench a lot, 150 (kilograms) or something like that. He might need a bit of leg work though. He's got a big upper body and skinny legs.

Jacob Lillyman (Warriors)
I'd say Issac Luke. He is not the biggest guy but whenever he is in the wrestle or whatever he is such a strong, strong guy who is hard to get on his back or is always putting bigger blokes on their back. I'm not in his gym group but I know on the field pound for pound he is strongest.

Joe Ofahengaue (Broncos)
It has to be Corey Parker. Well, at least that's what he tells everyone in the gym. He box squats and all of us squat normally. You can lift more weight when you box squat so Corey thinks that makes him the strongest pound-for-pound. He carries on a bit. Tevita Pangai is another one. He's one of the new blokes to the club and although he's not that strong in the gym, he's a very strong person physically when he takes the field. He can be one of our strongest at the club and it's exciting to see what he can bring to the team.

Matt Scott (Cowboys)
Josh Chudleigh. He's pretty small but very strong. In the gym easily he'd be pound-for-pound the strongest. Still nothing compared to Jimmy Tamou and Jason Taumalolo but he lifts big weights considering he's a hooker. He's not that heavy really, but very strong.

Peter Wallace (Panthers)
Pound for pound would be 'Chicko' (James Segeyaro) I think. I think his dead lift is pretty impressive. I don't know what it is but for a little bloke he's strong.

Antonio Winterstein (Cowboys)
I'd say Ray Thompson. He lifts more weight than the boys his weight and size anyway. I reckon he's been pound-for-pound champ for a couple of years now.
