It's important for every NRL player to make valuable use of their downtime; we asked some of the game's leading players what they watch to get away from it all.

Daniel Mortimer (Titans)

I do like Game of Thrones, looking forward to that coming out later in the year, but the missus and I are into Suits at the moment. Been getting into that on Netflix but I'm also a big South Park fan, there was a big marathon on in the holidays.

Gavin Cooper (Cowboys)

Gossip Girl. I'm serious!

Martin Taupau (Sea Eagles)

I honestly don't watch much TV, I don't really have the time. What I watch at the moment – due to my son – is Paw Patrol, which is a kids show. I guess that's the first thing I watch when I turn on the TV.

Albert Vete (Warriors)

Mine is probably Geordie Shore. I have been watching the new ones lately and it is pretty crack up. I just find them all pretty funny.

Dene Halatau (Wests Tigers)

My missus loves watching Real Housewives and all that but I just walk out of the room, I don't watch it but I've been into – I don't think it's a guilty pleasure – I love The Walking Dead. I watched it when it first came out then I didn't watch it at all for 18 months but I think I've watched about 20 episodes in the last two weeks trying to catch up. Great show.

Jake Granville (Cowboys)

I've been watching a bit of Netflix now so probably either Homeland or How To Make a Murderer. I watch a bit of Narcos as well, so I enjoy watching that sort of stuff.

Josh McGuire (Broncos)

"The missus has me watching all the Real Housewives shows. I just know a bit about it… I don't mind Orange is the New Black or Sons of Anarchy. But in all honesty the only TV I'm watching is the Real Housewives. My missus has every episode recorded!"

Ben Matulino (Warriors)

At the moment it's The Bachelor and I actually don't mind it. When we were in Brisbane this year to play the Broncos we saw some of the people off it and it was pretty embarrassing when my missus asked who they were and I knew all their names. But it's good to watch.

Zeb Taia (Titans)

I don't even get a look in at our house any more, all my girls want to watch is cartoons. We've got Mickey Mouse Clubhouse, Paw Patrol, Jake and the Neverland Pirates, Sofia The First; basically anything that is on Disney Junior.

Michael Morgan (Cowboys)

Modern Family, it's easily my favourite show. I just think it's hilarious. Good little 20-minute episodes that you can watch randomly, you don't need to watch it for the storyline. I do have all the seasons but you can pick an episode out; it's a good show.
